FDA gets inked
Or rather they're beginning to study the health effects of getting inked - like answering the question where does the ink go when tattoos fade?

Pranks
Dane and Aaron could have taken a few cues from these guys. The level of dedication and ingenuity that went into this office prank is just amazing. I can't decide whether these guys or the guys who turned their roommates stuff upside down are better pranksters.

Smurfs turn 50!
And in honor of this, one of my favorite blogs, Neatorama, did a post on the Smurfs - 10 Smurfiest Facts about the Smurfs - pretty interesting, fun to read, and with some videos on there too.
Veggie-tunes nut - he's not alone! There's an entire Vegetable Orchestra
The beginning part was interesting - watching them make the instruments. But after (ok, maybe during) their first "song" they mostly just played sounds that must be up there in the ranks of the world's most annoying noises, so save yourself the frustration (and increase in blood pressure) and just stop watching when you start to get irritated, it doesn't get any better, trust me.
Veggie-tunes
This guy (the nut that he may be) shows the versatility of vegetables. So, kids, when you come across a veggie that you don't want to actually eat, follow this guy's example and make music with it... or feed it to the dog, whatever works for you.
Impressive Ant Colony
While I found the video really interesting and impressive, I can't help but feel bad for the colony that was wiped out for the sake of science.

Geek-at-home: jewelry edition
And now the geek-at-home points you to Made with Molecules for jewelry crafted for those who enjoy the intersection between art and science. Necklaces, bracelets and other items that might tickle the geek's fancy are designed incorporating molecular structures - for example we have the caffeine jewelry or the ethanol glasses. There are even some DNA transcription tree cards that Sheyl might find interesting for perhaps sending out late solstice cards.
Geek-at-home: baking edition
For the geeks among us, here's a new method for baking - the Mean Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is an average of recipes created by Meg of www.megnut.com after she got 26 different recipes in 24 hours in response to her request for the best chocolate chip cookie ever.

Proof there is true evil in this world
Only someone intimately connected with the big red-horned man himself could devise this alarm clock - it connects, via wifi, to your bank account and donates your own money to a charity you hate every time you snooze. I can only imagine trying to explain to the bank when they call you up about a 8.264 million dollar overdraft when the power surges and your alarm clock temporarily goes insane with your money.

There is no place on Earth...
... left cellphone free. When even the top of Mt. Everest gets cell reception, you know the end must be near.

Paleontology discovery
Paleontologists think they've found an explosion in biodiversity 30 million years earlier than the Cambrian explosion. This event occurs at the same time as the first time the oceans were oxygenated. Read the Science synopsis here (with a link to the actual Science article at the bottom)
