Which would you rather be: a hedgehog or a fox?
This New York Times article talks about the role of expertise in successfully predicting future events. And while I was surprised about the results at first, the explanation for it makes total sense.
I also particularly enjoyed the description of a study that pitted Yale undergrads against a white rat and the outcome of that competition.

The Science of Coffee
THIS article is a really interesting look at the biology, chemistry and physics of coffee and making coffee.
I may just have to make myself another cup of (probably inferior) coffee...

'"My initial thought when I was half awake was: it's a lunatic ninja coming through the window," Mr Ettlin told The Associated Press.
"It seems about as likely as a kangaroo breaking in."'

Lovely Animation
Even though no one comes here anymore, I thought I'd share this wonderful video. It's a little on the long side, nearly 10 minutes, but fantastic animation, and a lovely and sweet story.
